Veterinarians
Dr. Gary Arzem
Veterinarian
Raised in Toronto, Dr. Gary Arzem has been practicing veterinary medicine for more than 30 years. His special interests and training include internal medicine, ultrasound, ophthalmology, cardiology, surgery, emergency medicine, and preventative medicine. For years, his dream was to run a full-service animal hospital for pets, meeting all their veterinary healthcare needs and providing exceptional client service.
Dr. Arzem has realized that dream at North Yonge Veterinary Hospital. He strives to meet every patient’s unique needs and works hard to explain to clients every aspect of their pet’s care. He is passionate about preventative medicine as well as progressive treatment and surgery. He enjoys his relationships with his clients and loves informing them on the various details of pet health care that ensure every pet enjoys a healthy and happy life.
When he is not taking care of his patients, Dr. Arzem enjoys spending time with his family outdoors. His interests include travel, baseball, and golf. He admits that music is a passion he couldn’t live without. A veterinarian who has dedicated his life to taking care of animals, he is especially proud when clients refer friends and family to his practice due to the excellent and thorough care their pets receive and the superior service his staff offers at North Yonge Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. Amin Sabzevari
Veterinarian
Dr. Amin Sabzevari joined the North Yonge Veterinary Hospital team in 2022. Born and raised in Iran, he obtained his DVM degree from Azad University, Iran, in 2010. After taking part in several clinical research projects on different species, he published several articles in highly respected peer–reviewed journals.
He has practiced veterinary medicine in Alberta and Ontario and has special interests in internal and emergency medicine, critical care, imaging, advanced diagnostics, and therapeutic tools. He enjoys speaking with and educating clients on medical and preventive health care and following up with clients about their pet’s health and progress with the ultimate goal of enhancing the human-animal bond.
Dr. Amin Sabzeravi lives in York Region, and in his spare time, enjoys traveling, jogging, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family.
Briar
Veterinary Assistant
Briar joined the North Yonge Veterinary Hospital team in 2021, bringing with her a genuine love for animals and a passion for their care. Raised in Georgina, she grew up surrounded by pets—dogs, cats, rabbits—and developed a deep appreciation for animals and nature. Briar loves having the chance to make a real difference in the lives of the animals she works with.
Certified in Canine CPR and First Aid, she’s also gained valuable experience working in kennels and training centers. Briar is a big supporter of The Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, advocating for their mission to help guide dogs and other animals in need.
When she’s not at work, Briar can usually be found outdoors, whether hiking, camping, or just exploring new trails. She enjoys staying active and loves the peace of nature. In her downtime, Briar is often curled up with a good book, hanging out with friends and family, or spending time with her cat, Binx.
FELICIA
Veterinary Assistant
Felicia joined The North Yonge Veterinary Hospital team in 2024. She was born in Toronto and grew up and lives in York Region.
Felicia graduated with high honors from Seneca Polytechnic College’s Veterinary Assistant program and is enrolled in Seneca’s Registered Veterinary Technician program. She has had over 5 years of extensive experience in the animal care field, including working as an animal care attendant at a veterinary hospital and a kennel attendant at a boarding/doggie daycare facility.
She also currently volunteers at a wildlife rehabilitation center. Felicia has completed Canine and feline CPR and first aid courses as well as a certification in fear–free for canine, feline, and equine, as well as several other animal-related certificate courses.
Felicia loves to provide exceptional care for all patients, including health monitoring, feeding, and grooming, as well as helping to comfort and calm anxious animals, ensuring they are comfortable and stress-free at all times.
Felicia is very interested in assisting in surgery, diagnostic imaging (x-rays and ultrasound), in addition to all aspects of hospital and medical, surgical, and patient care.
Kristel
Veterinary Assistant
Kristel joined the North Yonge Veterinary Hospital team after graduating from the Veterinary Assistant Program at Seneca College in 2021.
Kristel grew up in Newmarket and Georgina and has always been around dogs, cats, and horses.
Kristel has also had extensive experience with horses, competitive riding, and volunteering and is a Certified Equine Massage Therapist. Kristel also has previous work and managerial experience in the restaurant industry. She also continues to work for her family’s locksmith business as an accounting clerk/bookkeeper and has her own wood sign business.
She loves to learn and is passionate about giving patients exceptional health care and being able to contribute to making each client and pet’s visit a positive one.
In her free time, Kristel loves hiking, fishing, golfing, horse riding, plants, and spending time with family(dinner and game night)and pets.
Brydee
Veterinary Assistant
Brydee joined the North Yonge Veterinary Hospital team in 2024, with 12 years of experience working in regular and emergency veterinary hospitals. She has gained extensive experience in medicine, surgery, customer service and hospital administration.
Known for her calm and professional approach, Brydee loves to accommodate clients needs and takes the time to get to know all of our clients and patients. She also enjoys assisting with surgeries, medical procedures and is always interested in continuing education.
Brydee lives in Georgina and loves spending time with her family, the outdoors, cottaging and going on adventures. She is also very interested in animal rescue organizations.
Danielle
Registered Veterinary Technician/Lead Technician (Maternity Leave)
Danielle graduated from the Registered Veterinary Technician Program at Seneca College in 2018 and has worked in both general veterinary hospitals and emergency. She was also the recipient of The P.A.W.S award at her high school for promoting animal welfare and kindness to animals. Danielle loves that her career helps animals and makes a difference in animals’ health, and she enjoys building relationships with clients and pets. Danielle loves to spend time with her fiancée and their 2 rescue cats, along with friends and family. In her spare time, she also likes hiking, fishing, and exploring new places.
Shayna
Registered Veterinary Technician
Shayna joined the North Yonge Veterinary Hospital team in 2022 after graduating with honors from the Northern College Veterinary Technician Program and becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) shortly afterward.
Raised on a farm surrounded by animals, Shayna developed a strong connection to nature and a deep love for animal care early on. These experiences shaped her compassionate, hands-on approach to veterinary medicine.
As an RVT, Shayna is involved in all areas of patient care—from appointments and diagnostics to assisting in surgery and dentistry. She is also a certified CPR and Advanced Life Support (ALS) rescuer, trained to respond in critical care situations.
Shayna is known for her friendly, upbeat attitude and loves welcoming each patient at the door. She’s passionate about lifelong learning and strengthening the human-animal bond through thoughtful, skilled care.
Outside of work, Shayna enjoys spending time outdoors—gardening, hiking, and exploring nature trails. She also loves getting lost in a good book, drawing, staying active, and relaxing at home with her three beloved cats: Jace, Marz, and Mooncake.
